Join us for this very special song school class where we welcome Sara Aroeste to share songs from the Ladino Tradition!

You will learn the predominant sounds and how to use them to play grooves and phrases on the frame drum in the Middle-Eastern/Mediterranean “lap style”. This is a hand technique, so no sticks will be needed.  

In this class we will practice the 5 main positions of the C Major scale (this scale has the same notes as the A minor scale, so you will effectively be learning both). These scale positions can easily be moved up or down to transpose to other keys.

Art Castle is a sanctuary created to nurture one's visionary potential through the aid of sacred sound.  Participants will be guided through a sound journey meditation designed to connect to their own creative spirit.  After journeying everyone will have the opportunity to capture their visions on paper and let their imagination flow.

In this class, you will learn how to arpeggiate major and minor chords in different positions and begin to explore the guitar from a new perspective. Learning arpeggios will help you deepen your knowledge of how chords work, what notes belong to them, and develop a more sophisticated technique for the right and left hands.

Music is one of the deepest forms of prayer and healing that we carry with us throughout our lives. To learn, carry and sing a sacred song is an ability we all have, we simply need to tap into it. In our school, we invite you to tap into your own ability to use sacred song as a study, practice and way of prayer and expression. We will create an environment that promotes the development and learning of traditional sacred songs from all around the world. 

This class will teach you the deeper connections between notes, chords and scales and reveal how music literacy can empower your creativity. Together we will learn the C Major scale in one full position and practice the seven chords that come from it.
