Puja is a Sanskrit word that means “offering.” Tonight the monks will chant prayers and perform rituals in honor of the life, dedicated service and birthday of the Elder Brother, Sat Guru Dr. Jose Manuel Estrada.
The prayers are recited in the traditional overtone chanting, each monk singing a full chord of three notes. The prayers are often accompanied by delicate hand gestures, cymbals, drums, horns, and flutes.
