On Sunday, the 6th of December, the Ark will continue its film screening and discussion series highlighting the best consciousness-raising, transformational films from across time.
This week we will be screening Maestro Alejandro Jodorowsky's esoteric masterpiece The Holy Mountain. First released in 1973, the film was a landmark in spiritual filmmaking and a watershed moment in the slow, historical reveal of ancient mysteries to the movie-going public. It has remained popular and influential amongst filmmaker's, inspiring modern greats like Noé, Malick and Aronofsky to their own unique heights.
The movie depicts the journey of seven archetypal planetary avatars (including the Christ-like Earth) from the world of violence and debauchery to the stillness and the light of divinity. Under the tutelage of a powerful master alchemist, they are led into self-study and seclusion and eventually on a journey to the titular Mountain, where enlightenment is to be found. Or is it?
The film will begin at 7:30pm. Kindly arrive early.
Discussion, tea, cookies and tarot lab will follow.
